We sure have been enjoying spring around here! David has planted a number of new plants in the yard and he built a border 'wall' around one of the front beds this last Saturday. I thought it turned out well! (It's kinda' nice having Bob the Builder in residence here, ha ha ha!! And it doesn't hurt that he's pretty good in the gardening department, too.)

Doesn't the grass look great?! It feels like a rug under your feet.

He also planted a pretty new tree in the front. I think it's a Japanese Magnolia.

He put in a beautiful new rose bush by the mailbox. You can barely see one of the blooms on the far left of the daffodils. (And yes, "Put up a new mailbox" is on the list!)

Up by our front walk, we have a lamp post that has been there since the house was built. (You can barely see it in the top picture, right where the walk meets the driveway.) Apparently it used to be gas, but was switched over to electric before we bought the house. We've been planning on tearing it down, but haven't been able to find a replacement (since it's wired to the house and not plugged in). Of course, it didn't look TOO bad until David backed into it last fall, knocking the top off. :>)
Anyway, there are several holes down the pole where some sort of side pieces were attached at one time. On Saturday, we noticed two chickadees going in and out of the holes, off and on, all day. Believe it or not, they have built a nest down inside the pole!!! The bummer is that we can't even see inside to look at it! I'm going to keep an eye on it, though, and maybe we'll grab a shot or two of the baby birdies when they come out.

I caught her going in the hole, too! Isn't that amazing?!
